I have taught a variety of project-based immersion courses since 2007. This page contains information about current and past courses. In 2026, I decided to head off in a new direction and have retired all of my courses (although some courses may come out of retirement to reappear at a later time). You can read more about that here.
This is a mostly complete list of courses I've taught in the past with links to the course description page. Unless listed above, these courses are not currently scheduled.
It's true, the courses that I used to offer here have to come to end. I'd just like to thank everyone who attended over the years--I really enjoyed teaching these classes and hope that you learned a lot. I know I did!
In reflecting on this new chapter, I think everything has a season. When I started offering courses, I was out on the road and away from my family a lot. However, I soon gave up travel to teach exclusively from a location in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. This brought developers together in an interesting place, but also allowed me to stay close to home with my kids as they navigated grade school. The pandemic abrubtly ended in-person teaching, but I was able to continue most of my courses on Zoom where they remained ever since.
As my kids now head off to college, I've been thinking a lot about the future. Are my days just going to be me, Zoom, and the dog from here on out? I just don't know. With all of the upheaval in the world of coding and soft demand for courses, I've decided that now is the time to pivot to something that will get me out of the house and keep me on my toes--teaching high school! I think it will be fun and challenging in a new way.
